PowerLines Announces Partnerships with National Governors Association and National Conference of State Legislatures

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, PowerLines announced partnerships with the National Governors Association (NGA) and the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL), reinforcing its commitment to advancing solutions to lower utility bills and grow the economy by modernizing the utility regulatory system.

As states confront rising electricity demand and increasing pressures on grid infrastructure, PowerLines looks forward to collaborating with state policymakers, including governors and state legislators, to tackle the issue of rising utility bills facing households and businesses.

“Affordable and reliable electricity is the backbone of a strong economy, and state governments have the opportunity to lead the way forward on strengthening our grid and modernizing our system of utility regulation,” said PowerLines Founder and Executive Director Charles Hua. “By partnering with policymakers across the country, we can unlock more from the grid we have while lowering energy costs for all American energy consumers.”

Governors play a central role in developing statewide energy strategies, coordinating infrastructure development, and driving regional collaboration to ensure affordable and reliable energy. State legislators set the underlying direction for how regulators, often known as state public utilities commissions, oversee utility investments and the costs that customers pay on monthly bills. PowerLines works to support governors and state legislators in advancing policies and regulatory frameworks that enable utilities to operate more efficiently, deploy new technologies, and deliver cost savings to consumers.

Through these partnerships, PowerLines will collaborate with public and private sector stakeholders in convenings, discussions, and policy development initiatives, supporting efforts to advance practical, bipartisan solutions that increase grid efficiency, enable new infrastructure, and deliver greater value to consumers.

PowerLines is a nonpartisan consumer education nonprofit organization that aims to modernize the utility regulatory system for American energy consumers to lower utility bills and grow the economy.
