PowerLines Sponsors Western Governors’ Association Chair Spencer Cox’s Energy Superabundance Initiative

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, PowerLines announced it is sponsoring Energy Superabundance: Unlocking Prosperity in the West, an initiative led by Utah Governor Spencer Cox as the 2025 Chair of the Western Governors Association (WGA).

As states grapple with the challenges facing the nation’s electricity sector, PowerLines sees Governor Cox’s initiative as a timely opportunity for governors and other state leaders to collaborate on a key challenge facing Western states: building the grid we need for the future.

“Governor Cox understands that affordable and reliable electricity is the backbone of a strong economy. With strategic collaboration and commitment to strengthen our grid infrastructure, we can lower utility bills while advancing economic development.” said PowerLines Founder and Executive Director Charles Hua. “We look forward to partnering with Governor Cox and other governors across the Western region to promote bipartisan solutions that strengthen our grid and advance the interests of American energy consumers.”

The Energy Superabundance initiative will “examine challenges and opportunities for expanding production, transmission, and storage options across the energy spectrum to unlock more reliable, secure, and affordable energy to meet growing demand and achieve energy abundance across the West.” Through the WGA Chair’s initiative, PowerLines will participate with a range of public and private sector stakeholders in roundtable discussions, workshops, reports, and other sessions aimed at building connections, facilitating dialogue, and identifying solutions to these critical challenges. PowerLines is focused in particular on efforts to educate and protect consumers on the benefits of modernizing the grid and the role of state policymakers and regulators in advancing these efforts.

Western states have tremendous opportunity to grow their economies while ensuring energy is affordable and reliable. PowerLines is excited to support the WGA Energy Superabundance initiative during this pivotal time as the West examines opportunities to support innovative energy solutions, increase the efficiency of our grid infrastructure, and make it easier to build new energy infrastructure.

PowerLines is a nonpartisan consumer education nonprofit organization that aims to modernize the utility regulatory system for American energy consumers to lower utility bills and grow the economy.
